Ripley Swimsuit for Project Run and Play

The Ripley Swimsuit Pattern from Bubby and Me Creations for Project Run and Play is here and it couldn’t be cuter!

I have been anxiously awaiting this darling pattern since I saw the line drawings a few months ago. The Ripley is a crossover bodice one-piece suit that features optional ruffles on the neckline straps. It comes in sizes 1-10 and has some of the cleanest finishes of any suit I’ve made, making it extra comfortable.

I think the hardest part of sewing this suit was picking the fabric. We had too many cute prints in my stash but I kept going back to some of my favorite color blocked ready-to-wear suits. These bright solids from Raspberry Creek Fabrics were just so fun together and a great contrast to her other suits this summer. They have a sporty vibe together and I went with my gut and omitted the ruffle neckline. Honestly, that ruffle was what sold me on this suit and then I went and didn’t do it! I absolutely love the finished suit though and so does my girly. It reminds me of something I’d see in Boden or some other cute preppy clothing catalog.

I sewed up a size 9 width with a 10 length. The fit is great and I love the coverage through the bum area. I prefer when the straps are sewn down as the last step so you can try it on to get a really good fit lengthwise and that was the case with this pattern. I ended up taking about three inches off of each of the straps to really pull up the bodice per her preference. She likes things nice and secure!

Make sure to check out the listing and the other stops on this week’s Ripley Blog Tour to see the ruffle in action. It adds such a feminine touch. You can grab the Ripley pattern here.

  1. So cute this one! Model and swimsuit that is 😜 Not sure if it was intentional, but I’m getting a deconstructed Mickey Mouse vibe with these colours that I’m loving.
