Love Notions is re-releasing the Rhapsody Blouse and you’re going to flip for all the options!  It’s on sale today only for just $5 as part of the Feature Friday or you can grab it for $9 through Thursday April 29th.  Such a steal for such a versatile, option packed pattern!

The Rhapsody has been completely redrafted using Tami’s new pattern block with her new full size range.  A projector file has also been added.

The Rhapsody is a woven blouse and dress pattern that comes in sizes XS-5XL and includes a full bust piece as well.  The neckline features a front v-split and bias tape ties.  There is gathering at the shoulders and a back yoke and pleat.  The bottom is a beautiful curved hem.  There are nine (yes, nine!) sleeve options.  It looks amazing in drapey wovens and is the perfect warm weather top.

I can’t believe this was my first Rhapsody.  I’ve been wanting to make it since it was first tested but just never made it a priority.  I even decided to sit this test out as my sewing time is so limited these days and when I am sewing it’s masks, masks, and more masks.  As the tester versions rolled in, I fell more and more in love with this pattern.  All of the testers looked amazing in their new makes and I loved all of the new options that have been added.  I finally decided to take an afternoon and do a little sewing just for me!  Best decision ever!

I sewed up a size small with the 3/4 bishop sleeve.   I’ve had this yummy Art Gallery Fabrics rayon in my stash for far too long.  I’ve always pictured it as a simple summer top and I love that it finally happened.  I love Art Gallery rayon- so soft and the drape is incredible plus it’s not too shifty and sews up so easy.

If I’m being honest, that bias trimmed neckline had me super nervous!  Tiny bias tape, yikes!  I conquered my fear and can’t believe it had me so worried.  The tutorial is full of tips and hand holding and it went on so smoothly.

How is it going for you guys?  Are you finding more time to sew?  I just barely remodeled my sewing space earlier this year but it’s in the basement away from my kids and all the action.  Normally that’s a blessing but trying to do home school and entertain my kids all day meant I was NEVER making the trip downstairs.  When we started sewing masks, I moved the production to the family room and the whole family joined in.  It’s been so nice having my machines so central and accessible and makes it easy to sew for a few minutes here and there.  We’ve sewn masks for family, friends, and neighbors as well as helping my husband’s company sew masks too.  So many masks!  It can be wearing though and I definitely need to switch it up every now and then with some fun projects too.  This top was the perfect project!  It was a quick afternoon sew, something fun and summery, and used up a precious stash fabric that I know I’ll love seeing in my closet.  It was also the perfect excuse to do my hair and makeup for the first time in weeks.  Man, it felt good!

Simple Life Pattern Co. Piper Dress

Piper9

Simple Life Pattern Co. is a favorite for my girls, especially for dresses.  As part of the promo group I had the opportunity to pick this gorgeous Art Gallery fabric and sew up a pretty Piper dress.  Fabric and pattern were gifted to us but all opinions are my own.

My oldest is quickly growing out of most children’s patterns so I was happy when she was still able to fit into Simple Life patterns.  She’s a good 5-6″ off the chart height-wise but that’s an easy adjustment to make.   The Piper pattern comes in sizes 2-12, features multiple lengths and a ruffled or plain bodice.  When shopping the Art Gallery site, I steered her towards the rayon knowing that they produce a little more grown-up look than a quilting cotton would.   This pretty print is just stunning and we went with the maxi length skirt to really up the drama.

Between the ruffled bodice, wide tank style, and elastic waist, this dress is tween approved!  She loved how comfortable it is and that the wide straps hid her bra too.

She’s really looking forward to warm summer days when she can wear this to church.  She was a trooper this day and took these pics when it was just 40 degrees!  I tried to be as quick as I could and she’s hiding jeans under the dress too, lol!  I’m not THAT mean!  We had to catch the little bit of sunshine between snowstorms.

The Piper is part of Simple Life Pattern Co’s April challenge Garden Party.  The other featured patterns are Newport (you can see ours here), Maggie, Kyra, and Jamiesyn.  All of these patterns are 20% through the whole month.  To join the challenge, sew up your own versions for a chance to win one of three $20 gift cards to SLPCo.

Sewing one of these pretty dresses is just the right cure for a gloomy day at home!
