New Horizons Manhattan Dress

manhattan9.jpg

Sewing dresses for my girls is my happy place.  They’re so rewarding and they get worn so much.  They love picking out their clothes each Sunday for church knowing they have a closet full of pretty dresses to choose from.  When I saw the simple, sophisticated silhouette of the Manhattan Dress and Peplum from New Horizons I knew I had to sew it up!

manhattan8

I knew this stunning Burnout Velvet from Sly Fox Fabrics was destined to be this dress.  I won this gorgeous fabric in our Yankee Swap game at the Love Notions Retreat (I just HAD to have it!).  It’s sat in my stash since just waiting for the perfect project.  I have such a hard time cutting into those fabrics that are just a bit unique and special.  I’m pretty sure this fabric said a huge thank you to me for cutting into it and is loving it’s final destiny!  This color on my little miss, c’mon!

manhattan10

This pattern features a pretty boatneck, circle skirt, a full or v-back, multiple sleeve options, and a top or dress length.  I did the elbow sleeves and full back for this version.  I went solely off the size charts and did a 7 chest with a 10 length and the fit is spectacular.

manhattan6

The twirl factor in the glowing velvet is killing me!

manhattan7

I lined the bodice and skirt in double brushed polyester and she says it’s so comfortable and didn’t want to take it off.

This was my first version during testing.  I used a liverpool I’d gotten at a local clearance fabric shop and I love the classic feel.  I get such a kick out of quick projects and the simplicity of this pattern makes it sew up in no time.  Quick, cute, and unique= you’ll be seeing many more of these!

You can grab your copy on sale for just $7 through Friday December 21st . AND there’s a women’s version for you too!

Raspberry Creek Fabrics Valentine Line

group

Raspberry Creek Fabrics introduced their Valentine Line last week and I loved sewing some of it up!  We were lucky enough to meet up with Anna and her darling kiddos for a quick photo shoot to really highlight this collection.  I feel so lucky to have such great sewing friends so close and Anna is so incredibly talented!

pair2

This argyle print is such a classic and was instantly a favorite.  It’s great for the holidays but will also work well year round.  It’s printed on the CLUB grey base which is my absolute fav, especially for boys.

charlie1

I sewed up a Greenpoint Cardigan from Hey June Handmade.  I can’t believe this was my first time using this pattern.  It sewed up quickly and looks so cute on.  I left off the snaps and buttons for now but I’m still debating whether or not to add them.  We’ve struggled with snaps in the past so I’m leaning towards some sleek black buttons…

sophie2

I’ve been dying to sew up the new Modkid Brooklyn.  I love Modkid’s Tween line (Sophie is still just under the size chart chest/hip wise but is a 14 height!).  I think this pattern is similar to the True Bias Niko pattern and since I like to try out new styles on my little mini me first she got to be my guinea pig.  The mock neck, slim fitting silhouette is so cute on her!

sophie1

I thought the modern lines of this print were just too perfect for this look!  Windowpane prints are having such a moment and the addition of hearts just make this fabric so sweet.

payton1

This little girl is all about purple right now.  She loved the pretty watercolor stripe and I knew pairing it with the CLUB lilac dots would be a win.

payton2

I used the Jolly Roger Raglan from Patterns for Pirates with the funnel neck add-on.  I extended the funnel neck height and cropped the bottom hem a couple of inches as well.  It’s a cozy closet staple that will get worn often.

pixie1

I had to get in on the fun!  I love the simplicity of these tiny hearts on grey.  It’s cute without being too young.  It’s a print I can wear year-round and will pull out this sweatshirt often.  I used my latest go-to pattern, the Pixie Tee from Chalk and Notch.  I cropped the hem about two inches since I plan on wearing this as a layering piece and I love a bit of shirttail sticking out.

manhattan1

I also sewed up a New Horizons Manhattan Dress in the XO double brushed polyester.  I love what a quick sew this pattern is and that boat neck is super cute!  The drape of the double brushed poly is dreamy as a circle skirt and she loves how soft this dress is.

You can grab these prints on sale through Wednesday, December 19th for $1 off per yard.  They’re available on CLUB cotton jersey and french terry with the bottom two prints on double brushed polyester.  They’ll stay available in the shop through Valentine’s Day.

Love Notions Namaste Pajamas

namaste6.jpg

This post contains affiliate links.  In return for purchasing through my links I get a small commission (that I use to buy ALL the fabric to sew up ALL the patterns, lol!).

The Namaste Nightwear Collections are the newest patterns from Love Notions Patterns.   Available for both women and girls, you can sew for your little ones and sneak in a set for yourself too.   They’re just in time for your holiday pj sewing but perfect for year round too!

namaste5

Are you ready for all the options?  There are long and short sleeves, shorts and pants length, AND a nightgown!  They truly are so versatile and perfect no matter what the weather is in your neck of the woods.

I’m a weirdo and can’t sleep with long sleeves no matter what the weather is so these options are fantastic for me!  I tend to wear cute pajama bottoms with a ratty old tee (the more it’s been washed the better, lol) because of this but I’m so excited to have a cute matching set now.  My husband thanks you, Tami!

namaste2.1Can you see that gorgeous front detail?!  The front features a faux crossover and the long sleeve and long pants also have the same cute crossover detail.  You can use picot trim (perfect for that giant roll I grabbed in LA ages ago!), fold-over elastic, or binding to finish the edge making it quick and easy too!

namaste1When I finished my top, I immediately asked my husband if I could wear it with jeans!  I love the neckline so much and think it’d be so cute as a tee come spring.namaste8For my daughter’s set, she requested shorts and short sleeves since her drawers are full of cozy sleepers.  I love that these sewed up so quickly!  I think I’ll use the shorts as our go-to casual shorts too as the fit is so good.

My favorite feature of Love Notions kids patterns is the HUGE size range- 2t all the way to 16 means my kids can still fit into them for awhile.  As this little miss is sizing out of so many pattern companies, I’m so grateful for this!

namaste4namaste7The fabric I used has been in my stash waiting for the perfect project.  The mustard polka dots are double brushed polyester and are from Sly Fox Fabrics. They are no longer available but they do have a HUGE selection of polka dot dbp.  My floral is a rayon spandex from Stylish Fabrics and is still available in Off White.  I love the drape of both of these fabrics and would highly recommend using something with a little less structure for this pattern.namaste3namaste9

Grab yours on sale now and get your cozy sewing on!  I can’t wait to spend my Christmas holidays lounging in style!

Art Gallery Fabrics Stripe Tour

tourpic

I’m thrilled to be joining Karly from Paisley Roots for the Art Gallery Fabrics Stripe Tour.  Karly and I very first bonded over our shared love of all things striped so this was a definite treat for both of us.  I’m happy to be joining a great group of sewists to share these amazing fabrics with you.  Make sure you check out their posts this week as well!

Stripes are a favorite of mine and these looks were so much fun to create.  I had the hardest time picking which fabrics to use.  Just take a look at all the killer stripes here.  You want them all too, right?!  The colors are just divine and there are so many to choose from.  They are yarn-dyed meaning they’ll stay just as pretty after a million washes as they look today.  Such a dream fabric!
payton4
In the end I just couldn’t get this classic black and white combo out of my head.  I used the Striped Bold Caviar and Striped Alike Caviar.  I love the creamy white with the bold black.  I think I already have five black and white stripe tees in my own closet but I’m so drawn to the combo.  There’s no such thing as too many black and white stripes in your wardrobe!
pixie1
For my top I used the Pixie Tee and Dress from Chalk and Notch.  I love the optional side ties and knew it was the perfect place for a fun pop of fabric.  I used scraps from these pretty Art Gallery dresses and I love the combination.
pixie3
A bold peacock print is such a fun touch!
charlie1
I couldn’t bear to waste any of the leftovers so my little guy just had to have a tee too!  I used my go-to Jolly Roger Raglan pattern.  This bold stripe paired with a solid AGF knit in Sahara Sun is just checking all my boxes.  Stripes- check, mustard- check, cute boy- check 😉
payton3
This fun dress is the piece de resistance!  I used the Upton pattern from Blaverry (so sad it is no longer available!).  It’s one of my favorite patterns for combining fabrics and I’m always so happy with the results.
payton5
That back detail just makes me flip!
payton6
Add in that pretty contrast yoke and I’m head over heels!

We are so in love with our new pieces.  I can’t get over the quality of this fabric.  It was so nice to work with and is so soft and smooth.  I almost felt guilty using this amazing stuff on my kids.  I can tell it will hold up to all that they throw at it though making these a great addition to their closets.  Now to get my hands on all the colors…

Thanks for joining us on our stop!  We hope you treat yourself to some of this amazing fabric soon!

Hello Sweetheart from Riley Blake Designs

pair2

Hello Sweetheart from Riley Blake Designs is here and it’ll have your heart swooning!  We love the darling retro feel and it has us gearing up for Valentine’s.  It’s such a sweet collection full of bright colors and playful prints.

sophie2

The Gradient Heart is black was such a great choice for my oldest.  It’s got a modern edge to it that was so well suited for one of our favorite dress patterns.

sophie5

I love the clean lines of the Blake Dress from Mingo and Grace (you can see our other versions here, here, and here).  Those big box pleats and hidden inseam pockets are the stuff that makes me giddy!

sophie8

Can you even stand those ombre hearts?!!  The colors are just so fun!

sophie4

For this dress, I made a size 8 width with a 12 length in the skirt.  She actually measures into a 7 width but I was hoping by sizing up it’d fit a bit longer.  The problem is this girly keeps growing up and not out so I’m pretty sure it’ll be too short the next time I blink!  Little sister is already patiently waiting for her to outgrow it 😉

payton2

Speaking of litttle sis- she got a Samantha Skirt from Made for Mermaids paired with an Ocotillo Leotard from Honeydew Kisses with handmade suspenders.

payton4

This floral print is just too cute!  It reminds me so much of some of my favorite art when I was growing up.  Definitely brings me back to the early 90’s with fond memories!  Paired with Riley Blake black and white striped knit gives it a fun, contemporary twist.  This combo is just so adorable!

payton3She loves anything with pockets and thanked me profusely the minute she tried on this skirt.  Both patterns were new to me and I really liked them both.  The Samantha skirt pattern uses the same fabric for suspenders but I left them off this version.  It features an elastic back waistband so hopefully she’ll get to wear this awhile too.  I had to do some grading for the leo using a size 8 width and a 10 length.  It worked out really well and both girls have requested more (a sure sign of a great pattern!).

pair3We picked the warmest day we could for pics and it was a balmy 40 degrees when we did our shoot.  The sodas were both props and bribes for these two troopers!  The things these girls put up with for their dear old mum!

Thanks for joining us today on our stop on the Hello Sweetheart Blog Tour.  Riley Blake provided us the fabric to sew up but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Coffee and Thread Kids Lana Dress Tour

pair2

The Coffee + Thread Lana Pattern Tour is winding down and I hope that you’ve found it just as inspiring as I have.  So many pretty Lana’s for both women and girls have been sewn up!  I sharing a pair of holiday perfect Lana Kids Dresses with a little twist.

pair3These dresses are comfortable and so festive, making them great options for school and family gatherings.  They can fancy them up for special occasions but I also think they’ll wear them all season long with leggings, sweaters, or boots as everyday wear.  I love pieces that can be dressed up or down!  We picked up these beautiful velvets from Raspberry Creek Fabrics.   Velvet is my favorite for comfy looks that really shine.

payton1

My little miss sass definitely needed a red dress to match her bold personality.  For her version I altered the bodice slightly, curving it up in the center front and angling it down to the center back, creating a slight hi-lo effect.

payton2

I used the classic gathered skirt option and short ruffle sleeve.  It’s such a sweet dress!

sophie3

For big sister’s dress I used the slash and spread method to add width to the front and back from the armpit seam to the hem, creating a fun swing dress.  We used the newly added long sleeves for a cozy and cute dress.

sophie1

I used a gorgeous Olive Green Velvet because I knew it would match her eyes and boy was I right!

(This color is currently sold out.  It photographs more emerald but is really a vibrant olive in real life.  The listing pics for these fabrics are spot on.  My camera just really didn’t want to capture it’s gloriousness!)

pair1sophie2payton3

As the winter sets in, we are loosing our precious daylight.  This night was a fast photo shoot, picking them up from school and heading straight to another location with slightly better lighting and background.  The temperatures were in the mid-30’s and again, they were troopers!  I had to laugh while editing pics that my youngest’s arms were covered in goose bumps, all with the biggest smile on her face!  I’m so grateful for these cute girlies of mine!  I always get a pic or two each shoot of my goofball with a grin the size of Texas- totally captures her in one picture.

sophie4

This photo captures my sweet Sophie so well too!  What a treasure this girl is!pair4

Thanks for joining me on my stop today.  Make sure to head over to Instagram to see all the other beautiful Lana’s.  Use #lanatopanddresstour to be blown away!

Simple Life Pattern Co. Holiday Blog Tour

pair4

Have you been following the Simple Life Pattern Co. Holiday Blog Tour?  I’ve been blown away by my tour mates and loving all the stunning dresses all week.  We’re beyond excited to be sharing our looks today.  Stay tuned to the end of the post for a giveaway, tour links, and sale info!

For our dresses this year, we let the fabric inspire us.  We were lucky enough to have our post sponsored by Art Gallery Fabrics (can you say dream post? Gorgeous dress patterns in luscious fabric- count us in!).  Katarina Roccella’s newest line, Decadence, just screamed holiday glamour to me.  We picked the holiday perfect Houndstooth XIV Onyx and the dramatic Paon Plumes Rayon to coordinate.  These fabrics can be dressed up for a concert performance or worn on Sunday to church services.  Art Gallery Fabrics are amazing quality and I always feel like I’m spoiling my kids a little when I make something with them.

payton4

Little sis is wearing Helena’s Button Back Dress with the buttons moved to the front.  I really wanted to let those gold buttons shine and there’s a little tip in the tutorial to make this dress reversible.  Easy peasy and I love the glam those buttons add to the front.

payton2

I can’t wait for her to wear this all season long.  She loves it and I can’t get enough of her in it!  That sass really shines when she loves what she’s wearing 😉

payton1

I did the 3/4 sleeve and modest back options.  This is a size 8 with added length for reference (her chest is 26″ and she is 55″ tall).

sophie2

My tween loves anything sophisticated and trendy and the Patricia’s Boho Dress was just meant for her.  The hi-lo hem and soft ruffles add such a sweet touch.  This dreamy rayon just floats in this dress.

sophie4

I love that this dress has no closure so it not only comes together quickly (even with all those ruffles!) but it’s just as glorious to wear.  No zippers or buttons bugging her back!

sophie1

I wish I was as elegant and charming as this sweet girl.  Major love for this whole look on her!

This is the dramatic hi-lo hem with bell sleeve version.  This is also a size 8 bodice with added length.  She also has a 26″ chest and is 60″ tall (funny that they have such similar measurements still but she’s just crazy tall for her age!).
