Sew Americana Blog Tour

teaser2

I love July and the chance to celebrate this beautiful country of mine.  I was thrilled to jump on board the Sew Americana Tour by Wild & Wanderful and the chance it gave me to sew up these beauties in honor of the 4th.

americana12

It also meant another darling photo shoot with the cutest two-year-old around!

americana16

Sophie is sporting a Mingo and Grace Charlie Dress.  It’s done in a drapey poly rayon from Hancock’s.  I did a bodice facing instead of bias tape and love the clean finish it gave.

americana27

I played with the stripe directions for a little twist and we both just adore this dress.

americana18

It just suits her so well!

americana24

I went sweet and simple with this one in a Violette Fields Adelaide.

americana30

I’ve got ALL the heart eyes for that back!

americana25

And gingham and floral should get married, I think 😉

americana19

My sister sewed her cute little miss the Evie Pleated Suspender Shorts from Made for Mermaids.

americana21

Isn’t that bow back just divine?!!

americana15

I think we’re going to have serious Morgan withdrawals when she heads back home after the summer.  Cousins really are the best!

americana29

I love these looks together and how they fit their personalities so well!

Cosi Swimsuit and Raglan Rash Guard

sophie3.2

The Cosi Swimsuit by SewPony Vintage has been on my to-sew list for ages.

sophie5.2

A quick google search will bring up countless darling versions and will give you the itch to sew one up too.

sophie2

I love all the options it comes with- two piece or one piece and multiple color blocking choices plus a version with a ruched center piece.  They all are so retro and cute!

sophie1

I did the view F bottoms and added faux piping in the seams.  For the top, I used the one piece pattern and chopped it off to hit as close to the top of the bottoms as I could.  I wanted the look of the two piece with the modesty of a one piece.

sophie4.2

We have so many versions planned come summer!  It’s a fantastic pattern with great instructions and so, so many options.

sophie8

We also adore rash guards and I love how simple they are to make.

sophie6

I used the Recess Raglan from See Kate Sew.  I take it in under the arms a bit to be more fitted and line the front in swimsuit lining.

sophie9

So perfect for hitting the waves!

To finish her look, she got a new cover-up.  I used the Kelli Kimono from Made for Mermaids.  I followed my women’s version (the Patterns for Pirates Summer Kimono) as a guide to make it robe length and to add a sash sewn onto the back.  It’s out of a lightweight sweater knit that matches her suit perfectly!

I’ll leave you with my new favorite picture of these two!  There’s such admiration in his eyes- he sure loves his big sis.

A Christmas Jane Dress

jane1

After many tears over this dress not fitting, I promised to make it up to my Payton.  I let her pick the fabric from my stash and she picked this super soft flannel shirting from my stash.  I knew it needed to be a simple sweet a-line dress and the Jane Dress from Shwin Designs would be perfect.

jane3

I had made a sweet summery version with a collar during testing of this pattern and decided to leave off the collar and add a detachable one this time.

jane6

I used Made for Mermaids FREE Tiffany Collar in black lace and I love the look and the fact that she can wear it with other things.

jane5

I added pom pom trim to all the hems for a little pizazz.  I just adore this cute, classic little dress.

jane2

It just reminds me of how sweet and innocent my little girls are and how quickly they are growing up.

jane4

And since big sis got two Christmas dresses you know this one needed another one too.  Stay tuned tomorrow for my take on a classic Christmas dress.
