Boxwood Joggers from Sew Like My Mom

boxwood1

The Boxwood Joggers from Sew Like My Mom are here!

boxwood1

As soon as I saw Melissa’s cute versions I knew I had to get in on the testing.  I showed them to my 12-year-old and he was sold!  I can’t pass up a chance to sew for him since he’s so super picky.

boxwood5

These joggers passed the ‘cool enough for 7th grade’ test 😉

I mean those pockets are so, so cool!

boxwood4

Both pairs are made with french terry from Raspberry Creek Fabrics.  This pair is a heathered mint (currently unavailable).  The black pair is a solid black.  The cute pocket fabric is a remnant my sister gave me of Art Gallery’s Boardwalk Delight Ice Cream Shop Knit.  It was absolutely perfect for these pockets and cuffs!

These are a skinny fit pant and they fit a little looser on my skinnier than normal kiddos.  This guy says they’re just right!

boxwood2

We added a faux drawstring on both pairs just for fun.  These pants are a super quick sew- print, cut and sewn in less than an hour.  They include shorts, capris, and full length options with a looser boy cut for the older guys.  In sizes 12 months-16, you can use this pattern for all the kids in the neighborhood (because you know once they see your kids, they’ll all be begging for them!).

boxwood5

You can pick up the full size range here or the 12 months- 8 here or the big kids 6-16 here.  I can’t wait to see all the kids on the block sporting their matching joggers 😉

Back to School with Made for Mermaids

teaser1

Summer is winding down and we are in full back to school mode here- sob, sob!  I love spending my days with my kids and it makes me so sad when they are gone ALL day.  The one good thing about this time of year is a new school wardrobe!  I’m happy to be joining in the Made for Mermaids Back to School Blog Tour.  Make sure to use the code M4MB2S to save 20% off patterns.

sophie3

Our summer in Utah usually comes to a swift end once school starts.  Fall will mean 80 degrees one day and 50 degrees the next.  Time to sew up some cool weather staples!

payt3

My girls sure love to get dolled up for school but always want to be ready for whatever recess may hold.  They are girly girls with a side of tomboy spunk.

sister6

I sewed up the Blair Tunic for my oldest and the Brooklyn Dress for my youngest.

payt1

The Brooklyn dress is such a classic pattern that came together so well.  I loved the lined bodice and quick, easy construction.  I did a size 7 with an 8 length in the skirt.  It’s a great fit that will hopefully get us through the school year.

payt4

I used a lovely ponte from my stash and played with the stripes a bit.  I love this color on her and she loves how soft and comfy it is.  This one lives in skirts and dresses so this will be in constant rotation.

sophie1

I love, love the options with the Blair pattern.  For this version I used a super soft french terry.  I had this amazing upholstery fringe that I’ve been dying to use and it was just perfect for this top!

sophie4

I did a size 7 for her also but added about 2 inches in length to the hi-low hem.  Isn’t that hem curve delicious?!

sister3sister4

These two sisters had a blast shooting these looks.  Big sis had been gone for a couple of days and they were so happy to be reunited.

sister1

I hope their relationship stays this sweet forever!

sister2

Make sure to stop by all the other stops on the tour.  I’ve been loving all the back to school inspiration!

Sew Straight and Gather Cafe Romper

cafe1

Every once in awhile I love a good, rewarding sew.  Something that requires a bit more thought and time but the result is usually well worth it.  The Cafe Romper from Sew Straight and Gather is just that.

cafe11

With details like a hidden button/snap placket, mandarin collar, bodice contrast, belt loops, and matching belt, this romper looks so professional.  The bodice yoke can also be pleated which is a stunning look!  In sizes 2-14, I will be using this pattern for years to come!

cafe9

The belt is one of my favorite things!

cafe8

The snap placket makes for easy potty breaks too!

cafe2

I think this will be a favorite outfit come back to school.  She loves how comfortable it is and didn’t want to take it off!

cafe5

It can be made sleeveless and with shorts or a knee length skirt making this a year-round pattern!  I think a skirt version is in our future.

As with all of Terri’s patterns, the tutorial on this one is so thorough and I always learn something new.  It comes together easily and smoothly and really didn’t take much more time to sew it up than it did for me to pick which fabric to use (that’s ALWAYS the hardest part!).  The instructions have clickable links to make it super user friendly and the pattern is layered and no-trim!  I absolutely love my SSG patterns and the whole experience of sewing up her patterns.

cafe3

Make sure you grab your copy on sale through Sunday!

Violette Fields Alba

alba7

I gave you a preview of this dress in my Small Town Summertime Sewing post but it totally deserves it’s own glorious post!

alba5

The Alba Dress by Violette Fields Threads  has been on this girl’s wish list since little sister got hers last summer.

alba3

The fun, wide collar is such a stunning feature and sets this dress a part.

alba4

I used this gorgeous Michael Miller Eyelet  on sale at Peek-A-Boo Fabric shop lined in matching cotton from my local quilt shop. (I hit up FIVE fabric stores to find just the right match!)

alba6

I used a Liberty covered button I’ve been saving forever.  It has been waiting patiently for this dress!

alba1

Since I fully lined the whole garment, I used clean finishes and french seams when needed.  I’m super proud of the improvements I’ve made between little sisters dress last year.  Revisiting this pattern made me realize how much I’ve learned and how my skills have grown tremendously in a year.  It’s a great fitting dress that she’ll wear over and over again.

alba2

I’d say she likes it 😉

Hey June Linville Romper

linvillegroup43

I am currently OBSESSED with rompers and what could be better than a romper from Adrianna at Hey June!

linville2

The new tween line is quickly becoming my go-to spot for all my girls wardrobe needs.

linvillegroup40

The Linville features a keyhole back, elastic waist, pockets, AND pants, shorts, knee length skirt, and maxi skirt options.  Wowza, right!

linvillegroup16

I was lucky enough to test this pattern with my favorite sewing buddies, Diana and Emily.  That meant a super fun photo shoot with all our girlies!

linvillegroup17

These girls don’t like each other AT ALL 😉

linvillegroup7

It was so fun to see our different styles and personalities come through on this pattern.

Emily’s little one is darling in her boho inspired look.

Diana always leans towards classic pieces and these linen and chambray versions are to die for!

My oldest loves things with a bit of sophistication and flair.  This rayon challis pantsuit is perfect for her.

My little sassy one wears a skirt whenever possible so this comfy chambray version suits her to a tee!  I did a little pattern hacking on this version and fully lined my bodice and did a sweet lace tie in the back.

Details, details, details!  They can really elevate this pattern so much!

linville7

Floral chambray and lace just make me so happy!

Oh how I love these girls!

linvillegroup45

Make sure to grab your Linville pattern on sale now through July 25th!

Small Town Summertime Sewing

group9

Summer time and small towns are the best!  I love all the celebrations and chances we get to slow down and really enjoy the places we call home.  I’m happy to be sharing our Small Town Summertime Sewing with a few of my favorite bloggers. (links at the end of the post)

group13

Here in Utah we celebrate Pioneer Day on the 24th of July.  It’s a chance for us to reflect on our ancestors and the strength and determination they showed as they crossed the plains and arrived here in Salt Lake City on July 24, 1847.  We owe so much to them and I’m incredibly grateful to live in this beautiful valley they settled in all those years ago.  Here’s a little more information on why we celebrate.

group6

One of my favorite things about blogging is the amazing people I’ve gotten to know.  For this post I met up with two of my favorite local sewing blogger friends.   Melli, Karly, and I headed to Provo Pioneer Village with our crews.  The Pioneer Village is a quaint little village with authentic pioneer homes and buildings.  It is free to the public and volunteers in pioneer costume roam the grounds to answer questions. It’s such a fun experience!

They gave the kids a scavenger hunt list to search the village for.  Boy, did that keep them busy!

sophie6

The cute pioneer grandpa was eager to help!

group7

We had to search high and low for the Mormon crickets!

smalltown2

This may have been my favorite sight in the little homes.  It makes me super thankful for my current set-up!

group4

We got to play with the handcart and they loved it!

If only those pioneers knew how much fun we’d be having with their precious ‘moving vans’.

They all loved pretending to be pioneers, if just for a couple hours.

group8

And I feel in love with this gorgeous freight wagon!

The well was a hit too (don’t worry- it wasn’t functioning!).

group11

Traditionally, Pioneer Day is another day to celebrate this country we live in too.  We usually wear our red, white, and blue.

My girls are wearing a Violette Fields Alba and the new Linville Romper from Hey June.

This girl loved this location shoot and kept finding more spots to get her pic taken.  Always the professional 😉

smalltown1

Her and little Maci were quite the pair!  Always camera ready!

group3

We had such a fun night!  I left with a full heart- grateful for my ancestors and for this wonderful sewing community and dear friends!

Hey June Morrison Tee

morrison5

Hey June’s newest junior’s pattern is just what this girl’s been looking for!

morrison13

The Morrison Tee is a loose fitting, dolman sleeve top that’s so on point!

morrison2

Our tie dye version is the quintessential summer tee.

morrison10

The long sleeve version will take us right on into fall!  Our version is an early tester version and the sleeves have been lengthened but we still love this almost 3/4 length too!

morrison6

It’s got a high low hem option and the cutest tie front option too.

morrison4

We did the cuffed sleeve choice here and it makes for such a quick sew (especially if you’re boycotting hemming rayon spandex like me 😉

I’ve said it here before but Hey June patterns are just about the best out there.  You can expect perfect fit and superb instructions.  If there’s a new technique, I want to learn it the Adrianna way.  She just is that good.  Spoil yourself and pick up the pattern today!  All Hey Junior’s patterns are 25% off through Monday July 25th!

Love Notions Luna Pajamas

Luna1

Are you living in your pj’s this summer?  No?  Just me?!!  If you’re enjoying the lazy days of summer like I am then you can now do it in style with the new Love Notions Luna Loungewear!

(This post contains affiliate links.)

Luna14

In ladies and girls sizes, you will be the comfiest chicks on the block!

Luna6

There is a  cami and short or capris or a darling nighty option.  This little one was lucky to get her pants made from yummy Raspberry Creek Club Hearts.  Her top is an upcycled tee with Club dots as bands.  I love a good upcycle and this tank is perfect for it!

Luna7

I paired my capris with the La Bella Donna for a cozy, modest look. My fabric is lightweight rayon jersey from LA.

Luna2

The girls version comes in sizes  2t-16 and 8P-16P.

The Ladies version is in XS-XXXL.  They both feature optional pockets and drawstring waistband.  The cami also has an optional shelf bra!

Luna12

We hit the backyard for our favorite summer treat- s’mores!!

Doesn’t get much better than this!

Pick up your bundle here or the ladies version and girls separately and be prepared to spend the rest of your summer lounging in style!  And when your neighbors come by at noon and you’re still in your pj’s you’ll be looking good!

Blaverry Yves

yves15

Blaverry does it again!

yves2

The newly revised Yves pattern has won us over!

yves5

It’s a quick sew with fun details that make it such a stylish, unique pattern.

yves19

The neck detail, shoulder ties, and chest shirring (my fabric totally hides it) take it up a notch.

yves6

AND…it’s fully reversible!!!

yves4

This project had me stumped.  I originally planned to use this pattern as a swim coverup- think lightweight gauze and pom pom trim (cute, right!).  The simplicity of the dress lends itself to so many options!  My indecision was BAD and I let this project sit for weeks.

yves3

When I came across this fabric in my stash I knew it was meant to be.  I picked this up on our trip to Africa last year.  It’s a beautiful rayon challis that I was of course saving for myself 😉  As soon as I pulled it out again I had visions of this photo shoot and just how perfect it would be for this dress.  My Sophie can always rock things way better than I ever could so I knew it was going to the right person!

yves8

I grabbed this simple black rayon challis from Raspberry Creek Fabrics and it turned out even better than I had envisioned.

yves9

Throw in this fun black and gold cording from LA and it’s perfection!

yves10

I just adore this dress styled for fall!  Could it be any more chic?!!

yves1

The upgrades to the pattern are genius and so, so helpful. The pattern now includes:

• clickable table of contents
• more size and garment finished measurements
• new pattern nesting for easier size blending
• instructions on how to properly select your size(s)
• instructions on how to blend sizes
• printable page to record measurements and notes
• printable design/coloring page for you and/or your kids
• re-designed pattern pieces for easier size blending

as well as multiple length options and the fact that it is fully reversible!

This girly is a huge fan and I know you will be too!

I am part of the Blaverry promo team and was provided the pattern for free.  Blaverry suits our lifestyle and tastes so well that it has been the perfect partnership!  We truly love Blaverry patterns for their unique, edgy designs that make my little tween one happy girl!

Sew Americana Blog Tour

teaser2

I love July and the chance to celebrate this beautiful country of mine.  I was thrilled to jump on board the Sew Americana Tour by Wild & Wanderful and the chance it gave me to sew up these beauties in honor of the 4th.

americana12

It also meant another darling photo shoot with the cutest two-year-old around!

americana16

Sophie is sporting a Mingo and Grace Charlie Dress.  It’s done in a drapey poly rayon from Hancock’s.  I did a bodice facing instead of bias tape and love the clean finish it gave.

americana27

I played with the stripe directions for a little twist and we both just adore this dress.

americana18

It just suits her so well!

americana24

I went sweet and simple with this one in a Violette Fields Adelaide.

americana30

I’ve got ALL the heart eyes for that back!

americana25

And gingham and floral should get married, I think 😉

americana19

My sister sewed her cute little miss the Evie Pleated Suspender Shorts from Made for Mermaids.

americana21

Isn’t that bow back just divine?!!

americana15

I think we’re going to have serious Morgan withdrawals when she heads back home after the summer.  Cousins really are the best!

americana29

I love these looks together and how they fit their personalities so well!
