I sat down with my girls and we debated FOREVER about which prints to choose.  The line comes in two colorways- Spruce and Sweet.  I’m a sucker for non-traditional Christmas colors and this line really pulled me in.   We picked Dashing Through the Snow in Onyx with a gorgeous mint solid and Merry and Bright in Sweet.

I love that they can wear these dresses all winter long!  This fabric is thicker than your normal quilting cotton and a dream to sew.

I knew I wanted a simple silhouette for my oldest- something that would really let this fun fabric really shine.  I used the Norah Dress from Welcome to the Mouse House.  I did a size 7 with a 12 length for my tall girl.  I love the sweet a-line and classic feel it has.

I changed the dress slightly by adding an exposed zipper on the back.  I felt like it needed a little edge to please this picky girly.

I’ve been dreaming of making a Little Lizard King Double Scoop Dress since it’s release and I knew this fabric was destined for one.  This pattern is AMAZING!  It will be my new go-to for that classic fitted bodice dress.  The options with this one are darling and I’m already planning my next one.

I did KAM snaps up the back that match the mint just perfect!  This dress has a retro feel that I adore!  The full skirt, peter pan collar, big bow sash- seriously too cute for words!

  1. I love Hawthorne Threads. I was very excited when they started carrying their own fabric line. I have had my eye one Calypso for awhile. I love the turtle dance pieces the most!

  2. Oh, how beautiful dresses and girls! 😉
You used my favorite collection too, but since I am a sucker for borderline prints I would go for the “Oh What Fun Border in Sweet” with a dash of “All Wrapped Up in Sweet” for a matching bow pin 🙂 (maybe a bow in the back of the dress? Oh, I am not sure!!! SSSSSSSSooooo perfect either way!

  3. Gosh they have some beautiful fabrics. Your dresses turned out so cute; I especially love the LLK Double Scoop!
I think my favorite lines would be the Norwegian Wood, Mariner, and Calypso.

  4. I love the Celestial line. It’s a fun way to look at the stars and see an artist’s concept of what they represent. And, I’ve always loved the Coyote.
Those dresses are adorable, they make me wish for grandchildren since my girls are too big for such cuteness and they’re in their sloppy phase, ugh.

  5. I love all Hawthorne Threads in-house fabrics but at the moment Nectar in the Lyrical colour way is my favourite. Love those florals!

  7. The dresses are beautiful. I seem to be struggling with necklines lately — they don’t want to lay flat when I turn them (lined). How did the collar construction/fit go?

  9. Wow, I knew Hawthorne Threads had their own fabric but I had no idea they had SO MUCH variety! And lots of gorgeous ones to choose from. A couple favorite lines are Plume and Confetti, and I adore that large bunny print from Cottontail. Your dresses are lovely and I think your girls have a future in modeling! Such fun poses and expressions.

My favorite collections by Hawthorne Threads is Tundra, Autumn Fawn, Mojave, Cottontail, Winter Fawn, Fawn, Coyote, and this newest collection Oh What Fun! 13. Dashing through the snow in glacier blue is dreamy. I really like the way you made your older daughter’s dress. I may copy your idea! The younger daughter’s dress is beautiful. What lovely girls. They look as if they are having fun in the dresses their mom lovingly made.

  15. My favorite fabric line is the newest “Oh What Fun”, especially the fabric design “Dashing through the Snow” in Onyx that you used in your daughter’s dress. Or even in Sea-foam. Both look so elegant. dhardenburg (at) prodigy (dot) net .
