Sundressing 2017 with Melly Sews

Summer is in full swing in these parts and I’m excited to be joining in Melly Sews (30) Days of Sundresses.  I love being part of the Blank Slate Patterns Team and doing this tour is a little bonus!

For my stop I sewed up the super versatile Catalina Dress.  It comes with a tank option but this cap sleeve version was perfect for me!  Finding sundresses that cover the shoulders is tough so the Catalina is filling a huge gap in my pattern stash.

I’ve had this gorgeous border fabric from Cali Fabrics for awhile and knew it was meant to be a maxi dress.  It’s a drapey rayon gabardine that sewed up easily and is the perfect weight for this dress.  The colors are so rich and vibrant and make me feel way more sophisticated than I am!  Don’t you love when a piece of clothing totally ups your game!

The only real change I made to the pattern was to skip the drawstring as I felt it was too casual for this look.  I really like it belted and think it dresses it up just a bit.
