Love Notions North Star Pullover

I’ve got a new face on the blog for you today!  I’m excited to introduce you to my handsome other half sporting the first thing I’ve ever made him.  And it’s extra appropriate that it’s also Love Notions Patterns very first men’s pattern as well!

The North Star Pullover is the men’s version of my latest Love Notion’s make the Constellation Hoodie.  The North Star is a great relaxed fit pullover.  It features a half zip front with a nice big front pocket.  You can choose a hood or collar option.

My husband is not a hoodie guy so I went with the collar version.  I like that the collar is a bit dressier than the hood but still zips up nice and cozy.

My husband is wearing an XXL with an inch added to the length (he’s 6’1″).  I added the length to both the front top portion and the back pattern piece.  He likes the relaxed, casual fit but I think I could go down a size in the future.

The collar and hood construction is so clean and easy.  The collar lining is bound with bias tape leaving the neckline seam with such a smooth, clean finish.

For his first make I definitely had to spoil him.  He’s waited a long time for this day so he deserved some good fabric!  I used Organic Cotton Lyocell from Raspberry Creek Fabrics.  It’s currently sold out but more should be arriving in the next few weeks.  This fabric is just about as good as it gets.  It’s so incredibly soft, has nice stretch, and is so darn warm and cozy!  I think he’ll be comfortable wearing this casually around the house or out to dinner as well.

He was such a good sport ‘modeling’ for me!  We were cracking up as he struck all the silly poses he’s seen me do way too many times!  It was so nice to have our roles reversed during this shoot.  He’s a natural, don’t you think?!
