Naples Dress Blog Tour

naples8

Can it get any cuter?

naples27

Why yes, just throw in a matching doll version…DYING!!!

naples1.5

I’m so excited to be a stop on the Naples Dress Blog Tour.

naples4

This pattern (affl. link) and gorgeous Art Gallery denim are a match made in seamstress heaven!

naples9

I was so excited to get my hands on Art Gallery Fabrics new Denim line.

naples10

The great people at Art Gallery generously sent a couple yards of Solid Smooth Denim in Afternoon Sail for me to sew up for this tour.  It’s got a slight shine and drapes beautifully.  Exactly what this pattern needed!

naples11

This shade of blue matches her eyes perfectly! I now have a new favorite picture of my cutie!

naples6

Denim and cream trim are such a classic combo.

naples17

For this version of the dress, I did butterfly sleeves and an aline dress.

naples7

I used left over fabric from this dress for the tie.  I love the bit of contrast it adds.

naples18

Simple and sweet and perfect for her Easter dress.

naples2

naples12

She loves how comfy it is!  Nice and flowy but so hippie chic at the same time.

naples21

Of course she wanted a matching dress for her mini-me doll.

naples24

The doll dress is such a quick, fun sew.  I think it was cut and finished in half an hour.

naples29

My kind of project- quick and made her so, so happy!

naples25

This pic cracks me up- They have the same toothy smile!!

naples23

I had so much fun sewing up this dress.  You can check out big sisters version and more pattern details here.  I think this pattern will be a favorite around our house for a long time.

naples3

I’ll leave you with her ‘smolder’.

Make sure you enter the giveaway for a chance to win a fat quarter bundle of Essentials II from Art Gallery Fabrics and your choice of 3 patterns from (affl. link) Jennuine Designs.  Use code NAPLESTOUR for 25% off all patterns (except bundles) in her shop too!  I have mad love for her Dressage Leggings (here and here).

When Jennifer from A Jennuine Life contacted me about an upcoming blog tour for the *Naples Dress I was thrilled at the opportunity to join in!

naplessophie17

A little background in case you’ve ever wondered how I decide which kid to sew for, this is the dealeo- Payton is my standard size kiddo and she gets most of the pattern tests because of this.  Sophie is tall and skinny and the reason I started sewing for my kids in the first place (hence the blog name).  I love being able to custom fit pieces for her.  Both girls have totally different tastes which makes it super fun to dress them!

naplessophie5

I showed both girls all the pictures I could find under #naplesdress and it was love, love for my playful, girly Payton (You’ll get to see her version next week on the Naples Dress Blog Tour- stay tuned because it’s awesome!).

naplessophie7

This one needed a little more convincing and I knew a flowy rayon challis version would be right up her alley.

naplessophie21

And boy, was I right!

naplessophie1

It’s just edgy enough to satisfy her and still sweet too!

naplessophie15

I did the wide bow version and I love the bit of drama it brings.

naplessophie6

This is the size 7 a-line tunic length with about 2 inches added to accommodate her height.

naplessophie13

I used the bell sleeve piece but cut it on the 2t line to make it not as full and flared.

naplessophie20

I don’t think I could love this top anymore- it’s just perfect!!

naplessophie18

She’s pretty thrilled with it too and that’s really all that matters.

naplessophie16

I love the vintage feel of this pattern and think she looks like she just stepped out of an episode of Three’s Company (haha).

naplessophie19

Ok, more pattern details- It comes in sizes newborn to 12 and features a darling bias bound crossover bodice.

naplessophie2

There are a few neckline options- a simple bias bow, a button closure, and this wide bow tie.  There are also two body options- a-line and gathered.

naplessophie10

And  you’ve got multiple options for sleeves- sleeveless, two bell sleeve lengths, and wide flowy butterfly sleeves.  It also has dress and tunic lengths. AND there’s an 18-inch doll version, holy cuteness (I’ve got one for you next week- eek)!

naplessophie11

Options, options, options!

naplessophie12

This was one of the quickest photo shoots ever- squeezed in between her orthodontist appointment and play practice.  I absolutely adore these pics though and love her cute little braces smile!

naplessophie4

Stay tuned next week for the Naples Dress Blog Tour.  There are so many amazingly talented bloggers sewing up this pattern.  I’m so excited to see what they create and to be wowed with inspiration.  Thank you Jenn for such a fun pattern.

An Easter Blaverry Vivie

vivie1

vivie5

It’s almost Easter which means new Spring dresses are popping up everywhere.

vivie8

The Vivie by Blaverry was perfect for this girl.

vivie7

Sewn in gorgeous floral it just screams spring time to me.

vivie23

Christie at Blaverry is so good at pushing me out of my comfort zone.  This was my first collar and button placket and… I came, I saw, and I conquered it!!!

vivie22

This dress pairs perfectly with the Decklyn Jacket by Blaverry making this outfit one I am truly proud of.

vivie20

So many sewing fears tackled in one glorious pairing.

vivie6

Blaverry patterns are very concise and well written.  There is no hand holding for those looking for it but that makes for a short, simple tutorial that isn’t overwhelming.

vivie12

This pattern features front and back darts that make it easy to get a custom fit on your little model.

vivie18

Inseam pockets are always a plus too!

It’s such a sweet, classic pattern that I’m looking forward to making again and again.

vivie17

Now let’s talk about that ah-mazing fabric!! It’s Art Gallery’s Forest Floor line that I picked up from Raspberry Creek Fabrics (this is currently sold out but linked to another great print from the same line).

vivie9

It’s buttery soft and sewed up just beautifully.  It’s the perfect weight for this pattern and I felt totally spoiled working with it.

vivie14

I feel like my job as a mom who sews is to make my children feel comfortable and beautiful in the clothes I make for them.  To see the joy this dress brought to my cute girly is totally the reason I sew.

vivie25

I love the sophistication of the dress but this picture reminds me that she’s still my sweet little girl.

vivie21.5

Make sure to check out Blaverry and the Blaverry Facebook Group for lots of great inspiration.  Keep an eye out for more amazing Vivie’s in the group.  You can see my other Blaverry projects here and here.  Check out Pear Berry Lane’s darling gingham version too!

harems10.5

We’re prepping for Spring here and sewed up a capri version of the Freestyle Harem Pants.

harems5.5

I used a lightweight knit from my stash and it was perfect for these pants.

harems7.5

These pants are made for moving and grovin’!

harems4.5

Or standing on your head… (Man, I wish I could still do that!)

harems3.5

They’re stylin’ for a day out with friends…

harems6.5

And perfect for running and playing at home too!  Comfy and cute is what we do around here.

harems2.5

I like them because they are cool enough for my tween but modest and cute enough for my tastes too!  Seems like a hard balance to find these days.

harems11.5

The pattern features a couple of flat front waistband options…

harems12.5

With multiple rows of elastic in the back.  There are also shorts and pants versions and a variety of cuff choices too.  You know how I love me some options!

harems8.5

They’re the perfect spring pants!  Can you feel the sunshine already?!

Exciting News from Hey June Handmade

glitter8

I’m so excited the day is finally here to share yet another great Hey June Handmade pattern.  The Camden Tee is the tween/teen version of my favorite pattern, the Lane Raglan.

girlraglan16

All that snow in the background means I’ve been waiting a LONG time to share this exciting news!

girlraglan3

This will be the first pattern in Adrianna’s new teen line, Hey Juniors- YES!!!

girlraglan26

My girls are quickly outgrowing many designers patterns and I think there is such a need out there to fill the gap between little girls and women’s patterns.  I’m so happy one of my favorite designers is up for the challenge!

girlraglan13

The fit of this tee is so great on my tall, skinny little miss.  This is a size 8, long sleeve version in Raspberry Creek‘s first Club line.

girlraglan4

All my versions so far have been basic tees but there is a hoodie option as well as thumb hole cuffs and kangaroo pocket.  Sleeve stripes add to the sporty vibe too.

girlraglan28

A pocket pattern piece is included too but I’m so lazy that I can’t pass up the pre-made iron-on ones from Jo-Ann’s or Hobby Lobby.  In silver sequins it was just perfect to bring out the silver sparkles in the sleeves. (Btw- these pockets have washed up beautifully!)

glitter4

This pattern is perfect for all those iron-on decals out there too!

girlraglan11

Make sure you pick up your copy here on sale for $6.50 through Sunday.  And keep an eye out for more good things coming from Hey June!

Kids Clothes Week Part Two

fthudsons4

Another Kids Clothes Week has come and gone-phew!

pistachiotee7

I finished the weekend off with a few quick sews.

The weather is warming up so I wanted to add to my girl’s spring wardrobes with some comfy french terry Mini Hudsons.

fthudsons7

My french terry is from Raspberry Creek Fabrics (it’s currently out of stock but new french terry arrives almost weekly!).

fthudsons8

I did the pink pair calf length and the purple pair I cropped a couple inches higher to be bermuda length.

fthudsons2

I think they’ll be perfect for playing come spring and summer.

pistachiotee4

I squeezed in one more Pistachio Tee from Sew Like My Mom.

pistachiotee5

I did an elbow sleeve hack with a peplum skirt.

pistachiotee6

The floral fabric was from Hancock’s ages ago and the stripe is from a Girl Charlee knitfix about a year ago.  They had little stretch but worked great for this semi-fitted tee.

pistachiotee3

She loves a good peplum so much!!

pistachiotee2

I’m kicking myself for not sewing this pattern sooner.  It just has so many options and is perfect for all my littles.

kcwundies1

To finish things up, I finally sewed up the stack of undies waiting for Charlie.  I use Mo’s Comfy Fit Unders.  They are made for children with sensory issues which makes them super comfortable for all kids.  The coverage is great and they totally stay put!  I love to cut them out from scraps and sew them up in between projects.

fthudsons9

I’ll leave you with this super cool pic my hubby edited.  He’s always been the photographer in the family and I’m slowly trying to learn everything I can from him.  He loves a good artsy edit and it’s always fun when I find a gem like this that he’s been playing with.

I hope your KCW was a fun and productive one!  Anyone else ready for a break?! I think I better clean my house now 😉

Kids Clothes Week Part One

labelladonna1

It’s that time of year again… Kids Clothes Week.  A week of devoting one hour a day to sewing for your kiddos.  And yes, around here every week is kids clothes week.

pistachio1

But for this one week it’s great to know that you’re sewing along with other moms all around the world.

labelladonna3

I’ve been busy this week with more pattern tests that I’ll share with you next week.  I did get in a few quick sews that I’ve been dying to try.

pistachio2

First up is the Pistachio Tee by Sew Like My Mom.  This pattern has so, so many fun options and it’s been on my to-sew list since it came out.

I did a simple short sleeve version and used this fab Superhero fabric my cute sister sent to me.  There are options in the pattern for long sleeves, multiple elbow patches, colorblocking, and a cute peplum.

pistachio4

This little guy was under the weather and did NOT want his picture taken.  This picture just cracks me up!!

labelladonna4

Big sis has been wanting to recreate her favorite ready-to-wear dolman top.  The La Bella Top (affl. link) from Love Notions was absolutely perfect for it.

Her first version we did a simple three quarter sleeve top version and doubled the bottom band width.  It’s exactly what she was hoping for and just had to wear it that night to a family gathering.

labelladonna6

I love this girl’s style and her fabric choices and accessories!  Totally how I’d wear it!

labelladonna8

On her second version we used Raspberry Creek Fabrics Navy Club dots to compliment a jersey knit from RCF also.

I love this version so much!  It’s so fun and casual.

labelladonna11

I’m hoping to knock out a couple more things before the week ends. Any excuse to sew, right?!  Are you sewing along?

Bella Sunshine Adaline

adalineteaser1

It’s Bella Sunshine’s Birthday!  I’m here to celebrate with a couple takes on the Adaline dress and tunic.

adaline2

adaline15.3jpg

The Adaline is a versatile dress pattern with multiple sleeve options and cute color blocking detail.  I loved the simplicity of the pattern and my mind went crazy with all the possibilities.

adaline4.2

The theme of the tour is pattern hacks and I couldn’t wait to put my own spin on it.

adaline8.2

First I sewed up an all knit nightgown version in yummy Club stripes from Raspberry Creek Fabrics with a touch of Girl Charlee Knitfix floral.

adaline5.2

I did a maxi length for drama and ultimate comfort!

adaline22.2

I love the cute ruffly sleeve detail of this pattern.

adaline9.2

I lined up the back pieces with my front pieces to determine width and cut on the fold instead of doing a button placket.

adaline23.2

I skipped the lining and added a neckband.

She’s all girl and loves nightgowns and this is by far her favorite EVER!

adaline18.2

My oldest daughter loves clean lines and fun details.

adaline17.2

For her version, I skipped the color blocking and used a breezy polka dot gauze I got in LA.

adaline16.2

I modified the sleeve to be a sweet cap sleeve.

adaline19.2

We added a faux leather pre-made pocket from Jo-ann’s (I need to stock up on these because they are AWESOME!).

adaline20.2

I did a bold exposed zipper up the back- another detail I just can’t get enough of!

adaline11.4jpg

The bodice is fully lined and I love the clean finishing of the pattern.

This is such a cool shirt that just suits her style so well!

adalinepair3.2

This was my first Bella Sunshine pattern and I am beyond thrilled with my experience.  The pattern came together well and the tutorial was well written.

adalinepair1.2

I think the possibilities with this pattern are so fun.  It’d make a gorgeous Easter dress out of satin or linen or a fun everyday dress in cute quilting cotton.  Payton has requested another play dress in knit too!

adalinepair2.2

Hope you guys had as much fun as we did on this blog tour!! Make sure to check out the other stops along the way and enter the fabulous giveaway!  Head over to Bella Sunshine for more birthday fun!

Modkid Kendall Skirt

kendall1

I had the opportunity to test for the fabulous Modkid.

kendall3

The new Kendall Skirt pattern is so…much…fun!

kendall7

My girly just couldn’t stop twirling!

kendall6

It’s a high waisted skirt with fun little gores that make this skirt so full and twirly.

kendall4

It features a flat front waistband with elastic in the back and a rolled hem.

kendall5

It can be made in either woven or knit.  We chose knit because comfort is all important to this girl.

kendall9

Our main knit is an old Doodles interlock from Joann’s.  It’s super cute but has little recovery and I’d highly recommend using something with great recovery for the waistband.  My bad there and this skirt was falling off after a day of wear.  We may use the cute stripe for the waistband or add elastic all around to save this version but in the future I’ll know that fabric choice is important!  Using knit I could sew most of this on my serger- making it a surprisingly quick sew.

kendall8

The other testers were killing it and I’m anxious to sew up a woven version for spring.

kendall11.2

You can pick up the pattern here or here for a special intro price today only!  It’s such a fun, unique design that any girl would love!

kendall2
