Exciting News from Hey June Handmade

glitter8

I’m so excited the day is finally here to share yet another great Hey June Handmade pattern.  The Camden Tee is the tween/teen version of my favorite pattern, the Lane Raglan.

girlraglan16

All that snow in the background means I’ve been waiting a LONG time to share this exciting news!

girlraglan3

This will be the first pattern in Adrianna’s new teen line, Hey Juniors- YES!!!

girlraglan26

My girls are quickly outgrowing many designers patterns and I think there is such a need out there to fill the gap between little girls and women’s patterns.  I’m so happy one of my favorite designers is up for the challenge!

girlraglan13

The fit of this tee is so great on my tall, skinny little miss.  This is a size 8, long sleeve version in Raspberry Creek‘s first Club line.

girlraglan4

All my versions so far have been basic tees but there is a hoodie option as well as thumb hole cuffs and kangaroo pocket.  Sleeve stripes add to the sporty vibe too.

girlraglan28

A pocket pattern piece is included too but I’m so lazy that I can’t pass up the pre-made iron-on ones from Jo-Ann’s or Hobby Lobby.  In silver sequins it was just perfect to bring out the silver sparkles in the sleeves. (Btw- these pockets have washed up beautifully!)

glitter4

This pattern is perfect for all those iron-on decals out there too!

girlraglan11

Make sure you pick up your copy here on sale for $6.50 through Sunday.  And keep an eye out for more good things coming from Hey June!

Love Notions Vanguard Set

vanguard3

Two boy posts in a row- hallelujah!!!  Boys clothes are kinda boring and they tend to get overlooked for all the cute girly things I’d rather be sewing.  Until now…

vanguard14

I showed you an amazing hoodie yesterday on my big kid.  Today my littlest guy gets to show off the Vanguard Set by Love Notions (affl. links).  It’s on sale now through Sunday, March 6th.

It’s a versatile top and pants set that any boy will love.   It comes in sizes 2t-14 to fit all the little boys in your life.

vanguard28

The details on these pants are so extraordinary!  Big cargo pockets are perfect for storing all kinds of little boy treasures (like rocks and wood chips, of course).

vanguard27

Side slash pockets, knee darts, and a faux fly all add to the details that take these pants to the next level.

vanguard4

Elastic ankle cuffs and a knit waistband make these as comfy as they are cool!

vanguard7

The tee has so, so many fun color blocking options.

vanguard8

I went for a simple short sleeve version but there is a color blocked long sleeve option too!

vanguard13

I did the crewneck version but a v-neck and hood option are included.

I love that you can use this pattern all year long!  I’m excited to make a long-sleeve hooded version come fall.

vanguard16

This set is just the ultimate in little boy fashion.

vanguard2

For the tee I used my favorite cotton lycra solids from Raspberry Creek Fabrics and Purple Seamstress.

vanguard21

This amazing fabric for the pants is duck cloth from Hobby Lobby.  I originally bought it to make pillows but I love it as ‘Explorer Pants’!

vanguard1.1

My sweet little guy wasn’t feeling so great when we did this shoot.  He was so excited to get outside but this shot is so sweet and sad at the same time.  When your littles are sick their eyes say it all!

vanguard17

The fresh air was great for him and he still couldn’t help but be my cute, goofy little buddy!

Make sure you pick up the pattern here!  Another Love Notions pattern that will be in constant rotation at our house!

Elevation Hoodie by Terra’s Treasures

This post contains affiliate links.  I signed up to be an affiliate AFTER testing this amazing pattern. I loved it so much and think that you will too!

elevation19.5

I’ve had a hoodie like this on my Pinterest board and I was too excited when I saw Terra’s Treasure’s (affl. link) version pop up in my Facebook feed.  Of course I jumped at the chance to test this beauty!

elevation1

Testing this also meant a chance to take pics of Alex and I don’t know which I was more excited for.

elevation20

elevation3.3

This kid just kills me and I had so much fun shooting and editing these pics.

elevation18

But you guys are here for the sweatshirt right?!!  This pattern is fantastic!  The colorblocking is so, so cool!

elevation15

The construction is trickier than your basic hoodie but the result is worth the extra time.

elevation10

I’m a sucker for colorblocking and love that Terra has done all the work for you.  The v-pattern is so unique and goes together great.  It takes a little patience to get the sleeves lined up just right and mine aren’t perfect everywhere but once on it’s hard to notice.

elevation14

I used fabulous french terry from Raspberry Creek Fabrics.  He’s a fan and even picked the colors (that just happen to be his school colors).

elevation17

The pocket in this hoodie is just fantastic!  I’m still getting the hang of welt pockets and these were simple and the directions were great.  The pocket is one long piece inside which adds to the cool factor.

He was so excited about his sweatshirt that he wore it to school the very next day- high compliment from a middle schooler.

You can pick up your pattern here (affl. link) and check out all the other great versions sewn up during testing!  This pattern comes in sizes 6-12 months all the way up to 16!  How fantastic is that?!! And it’s on sale through today for only $7!

elevation16

Gotta love this kid!

Kids Clothes Week Part Two

fthudsons4

Another Kids Clothes Week has come and gone-phew!

pistachiotee7

I finished the weekend off with a few quick sews.

The weather is warming up so I wanted to add to my girl’s spring wardrobes with some comfy french terry Mini Hudsons.

fthudsons7

My french terry is from Raspberry Creek Fabrics (it’s currently out of stock but new french terry arrives almost weekly!).

fthudsons8

I did the pink pair calf length and the purple pair I cropped a couple inches higher to be bermuda length.

fthudsons2

I think they’ll be perfect for playing come spring and summer.

pistachiotee4

I squeezed in one more Pistachio Tee from Sew Like My Mom.

pistachiotee5

I did an elbow sleeve hack with a peplum skirt.

pistachiotee6

The floral fabric was from Hancock’s ages ago and the stripe is from a Girl Charlee knitfix about a year ago.  They had little stretch but worked great for this semi-fitted tee.

pistachiotee3

She loves a good peplum so much!!

pistachiotee2

I’m kicking myself for not sewing this pattern sooner.  It just has so many options and is perfect for all my littles.

kcwundies1

To finish things up, I finally sewed up the stack of undies waiting for Charlie.  I use Mo’s Comfy Fit Unders.  They are made for children with sensory issues which makes them super comfortable for all kids.  The coverage is great and they totally stay put!  I love to cut them out from scraps and sew them up in between projects.

fthudsons9

I’ll leave you with this super cool pic my hubby edited.  He’s always been the photographer in the family and I’m slowly trying to learn everything I can from him.  He loves a good artsy edit and it’s always fun when I find a gem like this that he’s been playing with.

I hope your KCW was a fun and productive one!  Anyone else ready for a break?! I think I better clean my house now 😉

Kids Clothes Week Part One

labelladonna1

It’s that time of year again… Kids Clothes Week.  A week of devoting one hour a day to sewing for your kiddos.  And yes, around here every week is kids clothes week.

pistachio1

But for this one week it’s great to know that you’re sewing along with other moms all around the world.

labelladonna3

I’ve been busy this week with more pattern tests that I’ll share with you next week.  I did get in a few quick sews that I’ve been dying to try.

pistachio2

First up is the Pistachio Tee by Sew Like My Mom.  This pattern has so, so many fun options and it’s been on my to-sew list since it came out.

I did a simple short sleeve version and used this fab Superhero fabric my cute sister sent to me.  There are options in the pattern for long sleeves, multiple elbow patches, colorblocking, and a cute peplum.

pistachio4

This little guy was under the weather and did NOT want his picture taken.  This picture just cracks me up!!

labelladonna4

Big sis has been wanting to recreate her favorite ready-to-wear dolman top.  The La Bella Top (affl. link) from Love Notions was absolutely perfect for it.

Her first version we did a simple three quarter sleeve top version and doubled the bottom band width.  It’s exactly what she was hoping for and just had to wear it that night to a family gathering.

labelladonna6

I love this girl’s style and her fabric choices and accessories!  Totally how I’d wear it!

labelladonna8

On her second version we used Raspberry Creek Fabrics Navy Club dots to compliment a jersey knit from RCF also.

I love this version so much!  It’s so fun and casual.

labelladonna11

I’m hoping to knock out a couple more things before the week ends. Any excuse to sew, right?!  Are you sewing along?

There’s a New Lane in Town

newlane4

You can stop your search for the perfect raglan right here…

I’ve shared my Lane love before.  Love really doesn’t even cut it.  You can see my OBSESSION here and here not to mention the handful that are unphotographed because they are constantly in the laundry.

newlane3

Well, my old favorite has gotten an upgrade!  Adrianna has worked her little bum off to make an already fantastic pattern fit even better!

newlane8

I seriously can’t get over how much I love the fit of this tee!

clubheartslane1

This was my Valentine Lane made before the upgrade…I was already loving the fit although others in the pdf world weren’t so sure.

lane4

The original was roomier up top with a wide sleeve angle.  Not a terrible fit by any means.

New Lane on the left, old Lane on the right.  Fantastic, right?!!!

newlane1

The new angle of the sleeves is absolutely perfect!  I love how it slims my shoulders and highlights my curves while gliding over what I want to hide.

newlane5

The new pattern comes with a full bust adjustment front pattern piece for those blessed with a bigger chest.  There’s also the hood, chest pocket, and thumbhole cuff options too!

newlane2

If you’ve previously bought the Lane the new version is yours- just redownload from your account.  I love that you don’t need to buy a separate upgrade!

newlane6

My versions were sewn up with my favorite cotton/lycra solids from Raspberry Creek Fabrics.  I love, love the solid white in the shop- not sheer but not too heavy, just perfect for this pattern.  The floral is from Girl Charlee.  My only modification to the pattern is to make a cuff on the elbow length sleeve- I will band everything I can!  With bands this whole top can be made on a serger in no time at all.

Pick yours up here today while it’s on sale!

Bella Sunshine Adaline

adalineteaser1

It’s Bella Sunshine’s Birthday!  I’m here to celebrate with a couple takes on the Adaline dress and tunic.

adaline2

adaline15.3jpg

The Adaline is a versatile dress pattern with multiple sleeve options and cute color blocking detail.  I loved the simplicity of the pattern and my mind went crazy with all the possibilities.

adaline4.2

The theme of the tour is pattern hacks and I couldn’t wait to put my own spin on it.

adaline8.2

First I sewed up an all knit nightgown version in yummy Club stripes from Raspberry Creek Fabrics with a touch of Girl Charlee Knitfix floral.

adaline5.2

I did a maxi length for drama and ultimate comfort!

adaline22.2

I love the cute ruffly sleeve detail of this pattern.

adaline9.2

I lined up the back pieces with my front pieces to determine width and cut on the fold instead of doing a button placket.

adaline23.2

I skipped the lining and added a neckband.

She’s all girl and loves nightgowns and this is by far her favorite EVER!

adaline18.2

My oldest daughter loves clean lines and fun details.

adaline17.2

For her version, I skipped the color blocking and used a breezy polka dot gauze I got in LA.

adaline16.2

I modified the sleeve to be a sweet cap sleeve.

adaline19.2

We added a faux leather pre-made pocket from Jo-ann’s (I need to stock up on these because they are AWESOME!).

adaline20.2

I did a bold exposed zipper up the back- another detail I just can’t get enough of!

adaline11.4jpg

The bodice is fully lined and I love the clean finishing of the pattern.

This is such a cool shirt that just suits her style so well!

adalinepair3.2

This was my first Bella Sunshine pattern and I am beyond thrilled with my experience.  The pattern came together well and the tutorial was well written.

adalinepair1.2

I think the possibilities with this pattern are so fun.  It’d make a gorgeous Easter dress out of satin or linen or a fun everyday dress in cute quilting cotton.  Payton has requested another play dress in knit too!

adalinepair2.2

Hope you guys had as much fun as we did on this blog tour!! Make sure to check out the other stops along the way and enter the fabulous giveaway!  Head over to Bella Sunshine for more birthday fun!

Modkid Kendall Skirt

kendall1

I had the opportunity to test for the fabulous Modkid.

kendall3

The new Kendall Skirt pattern is so…much…fun!

kendall7

My girly just couldn’t stop twirling!

kendall6

It’s a high waisted skirt with fun little gores that make this skirt so full and twirly.

kendall4

It features a flat front waistband with elastic in the back and a rolled hem.

kendall5

It can be made in either woven or knit.  We chose knit because comfort is all important to this girl.

kendall9

Our main knit is an old Doodles interlock from Joann’s.  It’s super cute but has little recovery and I’d highly recommend using something with great recovery for the waistband.  My bad there and this skirt was falling off after a day of wear.  We may use the cute stripe for the waistband or add elastic all around to save this version but in the future I’ll know that fabric choice is important!  Using knit I could sew most of this on my serger- making it a surprisingly quick sew.

kendall8

The other testers were killing it and I’m anxious to sew up a woven version for spring.

kendall11.2

You can pick up the pattern here or here for a special intro price today only!  It’s such a fun, unique design that any girl would love!

My Little Golden Valentine

glitter10

Gold, gold and more gold!

glitter8

The theme for Project Run and Play this week is ‘All That Glitters’ and I knew I couldn’t pass up a chance to sew along.

glitter4

This girl especially needed more sparkle in her life!

glitter3

I used the Dressage Leggings from Jennuine Designs for the bottoms.  The gold is jegging performance knit from Joann’s (a half yard at 50% off was totally worth it).  The floral is from Girl Charlee and while the print is fantastic the fabric itself has little stretch and recovery.  Luckily the gold is super stretchy and more than makes up for it.

glitter5

I love, love little tooshes in these leggings!  She declared these her favorite pants EVER!  So comfy and she loves the sparkle.

glitter7

The top is a new Hey June junior’s pattern- the Camden Raglan.  It’s currently in testing and I can’t wait til everyone can get their hands on it.

glitter1

We finished with a gold iron on heart from Hobby Lobby and my girl is officially ‘Goldalicious’!

glitter6

Such a fun little outfit that will get worn year round!  She paired it with a denim jacket for school today and it was true love!  I love these pieces as separates and know they’ll get worn again and again.

glitter9

Lovin’ my little Valentine!

For the Love of Dresses and Tunics Tour

I’m thrilled to be a stop on the Love Notions For the Love of Dresses and Tunics tour!  Stay tuned til the end for your chance to enter the fabulous giveaway!

labelladonna-teaser2

I sewed up a La Bella Donna Top in a yummy sweater knit that’s just perfect for our traditional family Valentine movie night.

labelladonna6labelladonna15

Paired with my jegging knit Sabrina Slims I’m ready for a cozy night in.

labelladonna2

Before I cut into my planned fabric I made a tester version in a bargain find sweater knit. I did the slimmer shirt version and added height to the band to make it tunic length. I loved it right away and decided this will be my date night out top!  It’s so easy to glam it up for a quick dinner at our favorite little Thai place.

I made a few tweaks to my planned version after sewing this to get exactly the look I was after.

labelladonna9

I added height and width to my cowl to really make it pop!  I love this floral sweater knit and really wanted to showcase it against the graphic stripes.  I can never get enough stripes and florals together!

labelladonna14

I added an inch to the arm length and also brought the front neckline down about an inch and a half.  I kept the doubled height of the bottom band from my tester.

A comfy, cute top that will get worn way beyond Valentine’s Day.

movienight2

We’ve had pizza and movie night every Friday night for as long as I can remember.  With five kids our weeks are so crazy that come Friday night we just want to snuggle up and be together!

movienight7

We always have pizza- by Friday this mom is done thinking about dinner! Sometimes we order in, some days we make our own but every Valentine’s we’ve got to get a heart shaped take and bake from Papa Murphy’s.

movienight6

It was an ‘artistic’ heart this year…

movienight1

The kids all settle in on our ‘pizza blanket’ while mom and dad get comfy on the couches.  We’ve been loving introducing our kids to some of our favorite childhood flicks.  This night though we had a handful of extra boys and they picked ‘Here Comes the Boom’- totally blew my Valentine’s theme!

Throw in a little popcorn and treats and who needs to go to the real theater!

movienight3

We’ve always got a little snuggler or two who join us.  The perfect start to our weekends!

(On a side note- my hubby is in a play and has to grow his hair out and can’t shave for a few months.  He was super embarrassed to make his blog debut as my homeless husband! I love the change though but we’ll keep that our little secret!)

I hope you’ve enjoyed your glimpse into our little Friday night ritual with a Valentine’s twist.  Make sure you catch all the other stops on this fun tour to see more gorgeous takes on some amazing Love Notions patterns.

Now the part you’ve been waiting for!  Enter the giveaway for your chance to win your choice of 5 Love Notions patterns (you can check out some of my favorite Love Notions makes here, here, and here) and $50 to spend at Girl Charlee.
