Hawthorne Threads Oh What Fun! Blog Hop

If you’re dreaming of holiday sewing have I got a post for you!  Hawthorne Threads newest holiday line, Oh What Fun, is spectacular and I’m thrilled to be sharing it with you.  The best part is one lucky reader will win 3 yards all to themselves!

I sat down with my girls and we debated FOREVER about which prints to choose.  The line comes in two colorways- Spruce and Sweet.  I’m a sucker for non-traditional Christmas colors and this line really pulled me in.   We picked Dashing Through the Snow in Onyx with a gorgeous mint solid and Merry and Bright in Sweet.

I love that they can wear these dresses all winter long!  This fabric is thicker than your normal quilting cotton and a dream to sew.

I knew I wanted a simple silhouette for my oldest- something that would really let this fun fabric really shine.  I used the Norah Dress from Welcome to the Mouse House.  I did a size 7 with a 12 length for my tall girl.  I love the sweet a-line and classic feel it has.

I changed the dress slightly by adding an exposed zipper on the back.  I felt like it needed a little edge to please this picky girly.

I’ve been dreaming of making a Little Lizard King Double Scoop Dress since it’s release and I knew this fabric was destined for one.  This pattern is AMAZING!  It will be my new go-to for that classic fitted bodice dress.  The options with this one are darling and I’m already planning my next one.

I did KAM snaps up the back that match the mint just perfect!  This dress has a retro feel that I adore!  The full skirt, peter pan collar, big bow sash- seriously too cute for words!

These girls were thrilled that their new dresses matched their newly redecorated bedroom- no wonder we were smitten with these fabrics!  They had a blast shooting these fun looks.

Now for the good part:  You can win three yards of fabric from Hawthorne Threads!

  1. All the Hawthorn Threads designs are lovely; this time Mojave is what catches my eye. A beautiful palette of colours, and a scrumptious mix of free-form and geometric designs.

  2. Your girls and their dresses are adorable! I have been admiring the Hawthorne in house lines and it is so hard to choose…I love the Norwegian Wood, Nectar, and Plume in all the colors. They also have some really beautiful panels and wholecloth options.

  3. Hawthorne Threads makessuch beautiful fabrics and each new collection is my new favorite. I’m a sucker for all the animals they use in their designs–like Fawn, Fair Isle, Tundra. . . (I could go on. . . 🙂

  4. The dresses are adorable. I like Tundra, but I really like Oh What Fun as well and would love to win some fabric to make something for my house!

  5. Love the woolly sheep in the Anu collection and the dancing princesses in the Kingdom collection. And the Minky Dimple Dots colors are scrumptious! I’d create some quilted winter throws for my sofa and back them in the soft minkys.

  6. Can’t choose just one but narrowed down a few, Nectar, Norwegian Wood, Tundra and Nocturne. I wish I sewed clothing because I always love the dresses I see in their newsletter. I think Tundra would make a sweet baby blanket, Norwegian Woods some gorgeous bags and Nocturne would make a fun fall quilt or pillows!!! Nectar would be great as anything!!

  7. My favorite is dash collection because it would be a great background and basic, and i can NEVER have enough of those or find ones i love. I love those.

  8. Hummingbirds have a very special meaning in my life, so I’m especially drawn to “Nectar” in the lyrical palette. I’ve had my eye on “Winter Fawn,” too. The print with the birch trees is beautiful.

  9. Love, love, love the easing through the snow snowflake print. Way too hard to pick a color though! Can’t decide between onyx, aqua or mint. Coral is close runner up. 😉
