Love Notions Luna Pajamas

Luna1

Are you living in your pj’s this summer?  No?  Just me?!!  If you’re enjoying the lazy days of summer like I am then you can now do it in style with the new Love Notions Luna Loungewear!

(This post contains affiliate links.)

Luna14

In ladies and girls sizes, you will be the comfiest chicks on the block!

Luna6

There is a  cami and short or capris or a darling nighty option.  This little one was lucky to get her pants made from yummy Raspberry Creek Club Hearts.  Her top is an upcycled tee with Club dots as bands.  I love a good upcycle and this tank is perfect for it!

Luna7

I paired my capris with the La Bella Donna for a cozy, modest look. My fabric is lightweight rayon jersey from LA.

Luna2

The girls version comes in sizes  2t-16 and 8P-16P.

The Ladies version is in XS-XXXL.  They both feature optional pockets and drawstring waistband.  The cami also has an optional shelf bra!

Luna12

We hit the backyard for our favorite summer treat- s’mores!!

Doesn’t get much better than this!

Pick up your bundle here or the ladies version and girls separately and be prepared to spend the rest of your summer lounging in style!  And when your neighbors come by at noon and you’re still in your pj’s you’ll be looking good!

Love Notions Tidal Top and Dress

tidal19

It’s here!!! The Love Notions Tidal Top and Dress is the summer essential you’ve been waiting for!

tidal14

(I am a paid Love Notions tester which means I get a little compensation for my time and materials.  I’m also a Love Notions affiliate so if you purchase through links on my blog I’ll get a small kick back.  Just enough to get me a little more fabric to keep up with the next fabulous Love Notions pattern!)

tidal10

I love, love testing for Tami at Love Notions.  Each pattern goes through the ringer and the end result is always the best it can be.  She is super receptive to feedback and works right along side the testers to perfect the fit of each piece.

tidal1

There are a three different sleeve options- tank, sleeveless, and short sleeve.  You can also make it a top, knee-length dress, or maxi.  I need a sleeve so I was thrilled when she added that option.

tidal37

It features a wrap around seam and either bands or binding finishing options.  The top has a slight high low hem.  It is an amazingly quick sew and I couldn’t stop making them!

tidal2

This cute coral dress was made in the first round of testing.  The fit right off was pretty good and I absolutely love this dress.  I used beautiful stretch lace and cotton lycra from Raspberry Creek Fabrics.

tidal9

I made version two in more cotton lycra and stretch lace from RCF.  Cotton lycra is a bit thick for this drapey top and I was anxious to make another version with something a bit more flowy.

tidal16

This version is one of my favorites!  I love the fit of it.  The sleeves were a bit wide though and continued to be tweaked through the testing process.

tidal38

This top was made with the final version and the sleeve fit is perfection!

tidal22

I’d been dying to make a maxi version and this one in CLUB stripes from RCF is just what I was looking for.

tidal30

It’s so fun to accessorize and so comfy and chic!

tidal13

I have a feeling my summer wardrobe will be filled with Tidal’s!

Kids Clothes Week- Black and White Edition

city6

This round of Kids Clothes Week has snuck up on me again.  It came at the perfect time though as this girly is in desperate need of some summer play clothes.

em4

We’re beefing up on basics this week and we started with a few tees and a couple shorts.

madeshorts2

Every year I make a batch of KID Shorts from Made Everyday.  I fell in love with this crazy print at Joann’s last year and these retro shorts were perfect for it.

madeshorts1

I added 2 inches to the girls racer hemline.  Next time we will add an inch or two to the rise- my tall skinny girl is so hard to fit sometimes!

city7

I love it paired with the new City Park tee that’s in testing from Hey June.

city13

She got two of those this week so far and I’m sure they will become a summer staple.  When the pattern releases I’ll give you all the glorious details!

em1

I used CLUB fabrics french terry to make a quick E+M Top #27 (a FREEEEEE pattern!).

em2

It’s a super quick sew that I’ll for sure make again.  I’m not loving it in this thicker french terry but it’s super cozy and will definitely get worn.

em3

I’ve got grown-up pattern testing going on but I’m hoping to squeeze in a few more things for little miss.  I’m really wishing KCW and the end of the school year were not coinciding- anyone else going crazy with end of the year madness?!!  My little guy is officially done today so there goes my kid free mornings. Naptime will be even more precious these days!

Make sure you check out the KCW blog to be blown away with inspiration- it’s my favorite!

Sofilantjes Anniversary Tour

Sofilantjes is celebrating their 2nd Anniversary and I’m so happy I get to join in the party!

So many amazing bloggers and sponsors and HUGE giveaways you won’t want to miss!

omni5

For my stop on the tour I’ve got a simple hack on the Omni Tempore.  With it’s crossover hood and kangaroo pocket, I knew it would make the perfect swim cover-up for my girls.

omni4

They have a hand-me-down cover-up in french terry that is constantly fought over.  It’s the coziest, comfiest of all their covers and I knew I could recreate it in this yummy french terry from Raspberry Creek Fabrics.

I’ll share my simple tutorial so you can recreate this look for your little one.  You can use a regular knit to make a cute summer dress too!  I’m still new to tutorials so don’t expect too much 😉

supplies

Grab your pattern and supplies and let’s get started!  You are only altering the bodice pieces.

step1

step2

It helps if your ruler isn’t broken but if you have kids I’m sure a few of your supplies have met this fate too!  Make sure you measure from the top of the pattern piece (not shown to protect the designer).  I lined my top up with the top of my cutting mat so I measured down on my center seam also.

step3

step4

step5

Easy peasy, right?  All we are doing is lengthening and adding a slight a-line to our bodice pieces.  From there we sew it up following the pattern tutorial.  Nothing mind blowing and easy enough for a beginner to do.

omni3

And you will have one happy girly when you are done!

It’s perfect for after swimming when we grab our favorite treat.  The first snow cone of the season means summer is right around the corner!  I dislike all things fruity- can’t even stand it, so my snow cone choices are limited but my kiddos sure love them!  What’s your favorite flavor?

omni7

We’re ready to hit the pool!

Raspberry Creek Fabrics Club Line 3 Preview

girls1

We’ve had so much fun playing with the new Club Fabrics here at Raspberry Creek Fabrics.

di1.1

The colors of the new line are so bright and vibrant and perfect for spring and summer.

alex3

Our boys are loving it too!

sisters1

Each print will be available in both jersey and french terry!  Can you say ‘hello, summer shorties and hoodies!’?

p4p3

The Aqua Yellow Pink and Grey Floral is a favorite of mine.  The watercolor abstract floral is so unique and easy to wear.  It pairs perfectly with the Grey Polka Dot.

It’s so versatile and all the girls in your life will just love it!

grace1

The Fuchsia Aqua and Yellow Floral is a showstopper!

It coordinates with so many solids in the shop for endless possibilities!

em2

The Grey and White Geometric Abstract is another fun, versatile print.

It’s so hip and on trend.  We’ll be sewing this print up for EVERYONE in the family!

Pair it with the stripes for the perfect tee!

grace1

The Grey/Pink Rose Floral is another beauty.   With the new Grey Stripe it’s the perfect, classic combination.

Tabitha Top by Love Notions

tabitha11

(This post contains affiliate links.  I became a Love Notions affiliate AFTER trying her patterns and loving the high quality, amazing results I got from them.)

I’ve been dying over all the ready-to-wear tops with fun shirt-tail, lace, or other trim hems.  They seem to be everywhere these days.

tabitha20

I can always count on Tami at Love Notions to fill my closet with the latest trends and classic pieces.

tabitha10

The Tabitha Top is a classic semi-fitted knit top with multiple sleeve and hem options.

tabitha9

My first shirt I made with the cute shirttail hem.  It’s such a darling detail and adds so much charm.

tabitha21

My second tee is more casual with a contrast yoke and split hem.

tabitha12

There’s also a fun lace hem option that I can’t wait to make.  I want to fill my wardrobe with these tees- they take my mom-i-form up a notch for sure!

tabitha13

Like the Tessa Dress, the Tabitha has multiple sleeve choices (sleeveless, short, elbow, 3/4, and long) and an optional front and back yoke.

tabitha7

I love the turned bias neckline- such a clean finish!

tabitha14

I love being able to use a bright, fun fabric for the yoke.  I always fall in love with pretty prints but tend to gravitate towards solids or stripes in my everyday wear.  This is the perfect solution!  This fun print is part of the next Club Fabrics line from Raspberry Creek Fabrics (join the Facebook group to see more sneak peeks!)

tabitha2

The stripe version is 3/4 sleeves.  The stripe fabric came from a Girl Charlee knitfix trade and is the same I used for my little miss here.  The floral has been in my stash forever but I think it came from Denver Fabrics– they have a great selection of floral shirtings.

You can pick up the Tabitha Top on sale through Sunday.  You can get it bundled with the Tessa dress for a great deal and the perfect jumpstart to your spring wardrobe.  You can read my Tessa review here.

Spring Break PJ Party Tour

pjtourteaser

I jumped at the chance to be a part of the Spring Break PJ Party Tour.

pjtour13

The tour is part of the Sew Your Stash Facebook group and I loved a good reason to sew up a few patterns I’ve had FOREVER!

pjtour4

I used a few patterns from Peek-a-boo Pattern Shop.  My little man got some Alex and Anna Summer PJ’s.

pjtour8

I’ve been dying to use Raspberry Creek Club Fabrics for pajamas ever since I first felt them.  They are so soft and just perfect for snuggling in.

pjtour2

My boy is in Club Aztec print, my oldest daughter in Club Buffalo Check, and my younger daughter has Club Dots.  The solid cotton/lycra is also from Raspberry Creek.

pjtour7

I was silly and sized up for his and my oldest daughter’s (hoping to get more wear out of them) but they are plenty big.  She’ll for sure get a couple summers out of hers.

pjtour12

For her I used the Alex and Anna Winter PJ’s for the bottoms and Summer PJ top.

pjtour10

pjtour9

And miss P got some footless Happy Feet PJ’s.  The Happy Feet Pj’s were one of my first pattern tests ever and I can’t believe I never sewed them up again.

pjtour5pjtour3

We headed to Grammy’s house for a fun slumber party photo shoot (Grammy has better indoor lighting, haha!).

pjtour1

Daddy took most of these pics and he is WAY more fun than mom!  I loved sorting through all the pics of them busting up.

Kids Clothes Week Part One

labelladonna1

It’s that time of year again… Kids Clothes Week.  A week of devoting one hour a day to sewing for your kiddos.  And yes, around here every week is kids clothes week.

pistachio1

But for this one week it’s great to know that you’re sewing along with other moms all around the world.

labelladonna3

I’ve been busy this week with more pattern tests that I’ll share with you next week.  I did get in a few quick sews that I’ve been dying to try.

pistachio2

First up is the Pistachio Tee by Sew Like My Mom.  This pattern has so, so many fun options and it’s been on my to-sew list since it came out.

I did a simple short sleeve version and used this fab Superhero fabric my cute sister sent to me.  There are options in the pattern for long sleeves, multiple elbow patches, colorblocking, and a cute peplum.

pistachio4

This little guy was under the weather and did NOT want his picture taken.  This picture just cracks me up!!

labelladonna4

Big sis has been wanting to recreate her favorite ready-to-wear dolman top.  The La Bella Top (affl. link) from Love Notions was absolutely perfect for it.

Her first version we did a simple three quarter sleeve top version and doubled the bottom band width.  It’s exactly what she was hoping for and just had to wear it that night to a family gathering.

labelladonna6

I love this girl’s style and her fabric choices and accessories!  Totally how I’d wear it!

labelladonna8

On her second version we used Raspberry Creek Fabrics Navy Club dots to compliment a jersey knit from RCF also.

I love this version so much!  It’s so fun and casual.

labelladonna11

I’m hoping to knock out a couple more things before the week ends. Any excuse to sew, right?!  Are you sewing along?

Patterns for Pirates Me Heartie Dress

sweetie6.1

Being my kid is hard.  Mom will make you new clothes all the time but then mom makes you stand outside when it’s 20 degrees and threatening to snow just to take a few pictures.  Never mind that she’s dreaming of spring and makes you a short sleeve dress.  You just suck it up, smile, and know there’s a treat in it for you when you’re done.  And mom hopes she can edit out the goosebumps later 😉

sweetie7.1

These girls are getting so good at just smiling and pleasing their crazy mom.

sweetie8.1

And they even have a little fun while they’re at it.

sweetie2.1

The pattern I have for you today is the just released Patterns for Pirates Me Hearties Dress.  I was thrilled to be able to test it and my girls just love their new dresses and top.

Sweetie1.1

The first one I made was a simple short sleeve bodice with fold-over-elastic binding and a dress length circle skirt.

This was my first time using FOE to bind hems and it was just fantastic! I followed this tutorial from Made for Mermaids and it made for perfect hems every time!

sweetie12.1

I don’t do circle skirts very often and my girls loved it so much that Sophie requested her own version.  They just twirled and twirled til they were dizzy!

sweetie11.1

For fabric on these I used a black and white stripe from Purpleseamstress, Club dots from Raspberry Creek and a photo floral print I picked up in LA.  I love the selection of FOE at Hobby Lobby and used a couple different ones for my dresses and top.

sweetie13.1

After I did the dresses I just couldn’t stop!  The sweetheart neckline option of this pattern is just too cute!

sweetie17.1

I used a knit lace I had in my stash, backed with white cotton/lycra from Raspberry Creek and Club floral from Raspberry Creek (that is unfortunately sold out).  The neck and sleeves are bound with FOE.

sweetie15.1

I did the shirt with peplum option and my sleeves are an in between length as I was using every last bit of the lace I could.

sweetie16.1

I absolutely adore this top and love how sweet it looks on my girly.

sweetie14.1

There are so many options with this pattern! Check out the Pattern for Pirates Facebook group for some incredible inspiration.  With the lace overlay, this simple dress becomes a stunning fancy frock.  And the best part… you can make one for yourself, too!  Pick up the women’s version here or grab the mommy and me bundle here.

sweetie18.1

And I saved my favorite picture for the end…  Seriously, this girl is one spunky chica!

Floral Cropped Hudsons

clubhudsonsmom4

The Hudson Pants from True Bias are one of those things I could make in my sleep.  Between me and my little ones, I’ve made too many to count.  I needed some quick comfy traveling pants before our trip so I instinctively grabbed my Hudson pattern.

clubhudsonsmom3

Now, while I’m thrilled with the final pants, that fateful Friday-the day before we left, was the sewing day from down under.  I usually share all my butterfly and rainbow sewing tales but this was just an awful day.

clubhudsonsmom2

I whipped through these pants and almost two raglans all on my serger when I realized my serger tension was off.  Like way off… looking great coming off the machine but a little stretch and it would unravel.  In my five years of sewing with my serger I’ve rarely had tension issues.  My good ol’ Brother 1034D just is that amazing!

hudsonfix

So, instead of being done with my projects in an hour, I spent three fiddling with tension, tearing everything apart and RE-SEWING everything!  AND, I was silly and didn’t interface my grommets so one came off while threading the drawstring and while I thought I could be tricky and put a grommet in with the waistband attached I managed to punch a hole clear through the other side of the waistband.   Somedays are just like that… even in Australia (to quote our favorite book of the moment 😉

clubhudsonsmom1

So these pants are fabulous though!  I can’t wait for warmer spring weather to wear these ALL THE TIME!  This Club french terry is so soft and delicious!

hudsonpocketfix2

I finally fiddled with the pocket size on the Hudsons and love them!  My phone fits perfectly and it’s not too bulky- win-win-win!!

Do you ever have days like that? What’s been your worst sewing disaster?  I’ve had patterns not work out for me but I think this was especially bad because it felt like an old friend, my trusty serger, had turned on me.  With a little work we’ve gotten back together and will have many more rainbow and butterfly stories to share with you!
